Joker: Folie à Deux (Dir. Todd Phillips; Starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga) Those who didn’t get enough of the 70s-tinged take of the clown prince of crime can rest easy knowing this one has Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn and some inexplicable musical numbers. Now playing in theaters.

A Different Man (Dir. Aaron Schimberg; Starring Sebastian Stan and Adam Pearson) An aspiring actor with a physical disability undergoes an experimental surgery only to find a doppelgänger stealing his fame in one of the best-reviewed films A24 has ever released. Now playing at AMC Thoroughbred 20 and The Belcourt.

The Outrun (Dir. Nora Fingscheidt; Starring Saoirse Ronan) A young woman returns to the Northern Scottish Isles where she grew up after a stint in rehab in this quiet indie drama. Now playing in theaters.

Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger x 6 (Dir. David Hinton) Martin Scorsese steps in front of the camera to spread his lifelong love of the films England’s foremost duo made in postwar Britain. The Belcourt also offers rep screenings of six Powell and Pressburger classics: The Red Shoes, Black Narcissus, The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, A Matter of Life and Death, and Peeping Tom. 

The Lair of the White Worm (Dir. Ken Russell; Starring Hugh Grant and Amanda Donohoe) A British archeologist unwittingly unleashes a bloodthirsty mythical creature in this classic envelope-pushing adaptation of Bram Stoker’s tale. Screening Tuesday in 35mm at The Belcourt

White Bird (Dir. Marc Forster; Starring Helen Mirren and Gillian Anderson) The expelled former bully from 2017’s sleeper-hit Wonder finds humility through his Jewish grandmother’s story of survival in Nazi-occupied France. Now playing in theaters.

Blink (Dir. Daniel Roher) In this documentary tribute to visual memory, a family embarks on a trip around the world before three of their children lose their sight to a rare genetic condition. Now playing at Regal Hollywood 27.

Scarygirl (Dir. Ricard Cussó; Starring Sam Neill and Jillian Nguyen) An animated movie based on a graphic about the titular girl, her adoptive octopus father, their friendly mechanical bees powered by sun rays, and an evil scientist named Dr. Maybee.  Now playing in select AMC Theatres. 

Monster Summer (Dir. David Henrie; Starring Mel Gibson and Kevin James) When an evil entity takes over their town, a group of teens team up with a grizzled detective to take a stand. Now playing in theaters.

Furious 7 (Dir. James Wan; Starring Vin Diesel, The Rock, and Paul Walker [R.I.P]) The seventh installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise proves that Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist. Now playing in select AMC Theatres. 

Hispanoamérica (Dir. José Luis López-Linares) “A Documentary traversing the 3 centuries that gave birth to Hispanic America, exploring the history, art, music and religious syncretism that blossomed from the encounter of two worlds into a civilization vibrant and beautiful like no other.” Now playing at Regal Hollywood 27.

Lubber Pandhu (Tamil) (Dir. Tamizharasan Pachamuthu) In this Tamil dramedy, the bitter rivalry between two rural cricket stars, Gethu and Anbu, escalates after Anbu becomes romantically involved with Gethu’s daughter.. Now playing at Regal Hollywood 27.

Swag (Telugu) (Dir. Hasith Goli) According to the Reddit review by Always_Anxious1310, it is a “Must watch movie, guys. Will make you laugh and cry. Most importantly will make you think! Go for it!” Now playing at Regal Hollywood 27.
