Saying this movie is about an architect who tries to rebuild New York City in the wake of a devastating disaster is like saying The Godfather is just movie about gangsters. It’s pure, unapologetic cinema equally brimming with ideas and eulogies—an epic that demands as much of its viewers as the nation that spawned it. Now playing in theaters.

The Wild Robot (Dir. Christopher Sanders; Starring Lupita Nyong'o and Pedro Pascal) This animated tale about an alien robot who bonds with forest animals has garnered peak Pixar reviews since its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival. Now playing in theaters.

My Old Ass (Dir. Megan Park; Starring Aubrey Plaza and Maisy Stella) A hallucinating teen gets a visit from her 40-year-old self in a coming-of-age tale on par with its sweetly edgy 80s predecessors. Now playing in theaters. 

The Room + Nashville Premiere of Big Shark with Greg Sestero The definitive aughts midnight movie returns along with Tommy Wiseau’s latest, a creature feature about three firefighters tasked with saving New Orleans from a shark. With Wiseau bestie and actor Greg Sestero in attendance! 

Paul McCartney and Wings–One Hand Clapping (Dir. David Litchfield) The classic doc about the former Beatle and his new band on the run gets a restoration on its 50th anniversary. Now playing at AMC Thoroughbred 20 and one night only the Belcourt as part of Music City Mondays with an introduction from music journalist Bill DeMain.

Azrael (Dir. E.L.Katz; Starring Samara Weaving) A lonely woman must navigate the post-apocalyptic cults formed in the wake of the Rapture in this well-reviewed, dialogue-free indie horror film. Now playing in theaters.

Lee (Dir. Ellen Kuras; Starring Kate Winslet and Josh O’Connor) A biopic about famed war correspondent Lee Miller that underwhelmed on the festival circuit earlier this year. Now playing in theaters.

Howl’s Moving Castle  (Dir. Hayao Miyazaki) The classic tale of a girl working in a hat shop who faces off against a witch with her magic friends gets a 20th anniversary celebration. Now playing in theaters.
