The Boring Company responds to Metro Council’s resolution condemning the Music City Loop; gets compared to Jeffrey Dahmer?
From Megan Podsiedlik
Tonight, the council will be voting on a resolution opposing The Boring Company's Music City Loop. The legislation condemns “the company's lack of transparency, inadequate community and Metropolitan Council engagement, and troubling labor and safety practices.”
If passed, it will not impact the privately funded underground tunnel, which will link downtown Nashville to the airport. Instead, the resolution is simply a statement letting Nashvillians know exactly how the Council feels about the project.
Last week, TBC sent out a letter to Metro Council members in response to the resolution:
We respect the Council's role in representing Nashville residents and share a commitment to safe, innovative, and beneficial infrastructure that serves the community. Music City Loop is a 100 percent privately funded initiative designed to provide fast, zero-emissions transit connecting downtown Nashville, the Music City Center, and Nashville International Airport, reducing surface congestion and enhancing mobility for residents and visitors alike—at no cost to taxpayers during construction or ongoing operation.
TBC also highlighted how they’ve engaged with the community, including “hosting community meetings, publishing detailed EAQs and bi-monthly updates on our website, conducting over 150 meetings with local leaders, stakeholders, and organizations, and participating in a public X Spaces forum on November 24, 2025, where President Steve Davis answered questions live for two hours.”
Earlier today, Councilmember Sean Parker added some color to the conversation on Bluesky. Parker, who is one of the ten sponsors of the resolution, invited TBC Vice President David Buss to Nashville’s annual Pedestrian Memorial Ceremony.
“I'd like to share some data with you,” reads Parker’s email to Buss. “The orange dots along Murfreesboro (Pike) are 2024 traffic injuries, and the black dots are 2024 fatalities. We've recently learned that desperately needed safety improvements along the corridor will be substantially delayed due to your project. That means more orange dots, more black dots while we wait.”
“You can feel one way or another about Jeffrey Dahmer but he completed his project at no cost to taxpayers,” wrote Parker in a separate post.
When we asked the council member for clarification regarding who, exactly, he was comparing to the cannibalistic serial killer, Parker gave us a cheeky reply: “Are you implying that Dahmer’s crimes were taxpayer funded? There is no evidence to support that claim.”
You can tune in to tonight’s council meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. online.
