Good morning, everyone.
The week between Christmas and New Year's deserves its designation dead week. The only things flying through the news are the dying impulses of a media machine that's worked for two, long years to make Covid-19 into as great an existential threat as possible. As Omicron reveals itself to be a benign strain more akin to the common cold, that journalists across the world continue to write hysterically about it is only evidence that nothing else is happening.
Below, we round up some Nashville headlines and give you a quick rundown of Covid lunacy. Dead week means there is less to say and less to do.

- Nashville boasts highest percentage increase in six-figure jobs, report finds (Biz Journal) According to the study published by Stessa, the Nashville region had a 270.9% increase in six-figure jobs from 2015 to 2020 — the largest percentage increase among the country's large metros.
- 'A crime of opportunity': More guns than ever were stolen from vehicles in Nashville in 2021 (Tennessean) Data from the Metro Nashville Police Department shows that 1,259 guns were stolen from vehicles in 2021, as of Dec. 18. That's up 290 guns from 2020, marking the largest single-year increase in a decade.
- New COVID-19 requirements in place for Nashville's New Year's Eve celebration (Channel 5) The New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash is now requiring anyone coming to the event site to show proof of negative test or volunteer proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
- Nashville bids for 2024 Republican National Convention (Biz Journal) Butch Spyridon, CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp., speaking to Fox 17, stated, “at the request of the Governor’s office we have submitted a response to the RNC’s RFP and requested an RFP from the DNC.”
