Events for the Week of September 21st
Good morning everyone! Things are looking to cool off a bit this week however it appears it will never rain again.
On Tuesday, the film RESPECT will be in concert at Schermerhorn Symphony Center, celebrating the legendary Aretha Franklin with a screening of the film with a live score performed by the Nashville Symphony.
Indie-rock supergroup World Famous Pets play the Basement East on Wednesday and Berkeley emo-rock band Mom Jeans headline Brooklyn Bowl on Thursday with resale tickets priced so high you can start crying before you get there.
Renowned jazz pianist Brad Mehldau will be performing his own Piano Concerto as well as Beethoven’s Coriolan Overture and Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 3 at Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Friday and Saturday. Also on Friday, instrumental math rock band Covet join chiptune-based rock band Anamanaguchi at Exit/In.
Damien Jurado will be playing at The Basement East on Saturday, and some wholesome and family friendly fun will be taking place at Cleveland Park Fall Festival from 3p to 7p— the free event features music, food, pickleball, kids activities and a movie.
On Sunday evening everybody's favorite Baltimore dream pop band Beach House are performing at Brooklyn Bowl and Kacey Musgraves will be headlining Bridgestone Arena.
Jason Hollis is a music industry veteran with 30 years of artist development experience. He is also the owner of The Eighth Room, a historic venue and lounge in Nashville where he hosts HOOKED, an extremely fun live music competition series every Tuesday, with no cover. (Info)
