Nashville’s new football palace is nearly complete.
From Megan Podsiedlik
There’s finally a roof over the Titans' new Nissan Stadium. Last week, officials told the Metro Sports Authority that they are about four months away from wrapping up construction and about six months away from officially opening the doors.
Before diving into the updates, the discussion opened with some lighthearted banter congratulating the Titans on their rare victory over the Indianapolis Colts earlier this month.
“We will take it,” said Adolpho Birch, Senior Vice President and Chief External & League Affairs Officer for the Tennessee Titans. “Believe me, winning in this league is hard, so we are happy and honored to get one whenever we can.”
The biggest milestone this month was the completion of the ETFE roof that encloses the stadium. Unlike traditional glass or heavy metal roofing systems, ethylene tetrafluoroethylene (ETFE) is an exceptionally thin, lightweight roofing membrane that is designed to let natural daylight shine through.
The field slab is also nearly finished, 23,000 of the 60,000 seats are installed, and initial inspections are underway. Construction on the connector to the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge is set to begin next week, and the build will take about a year to complete.
The build-out of the stadium’s checkout-free markets is set to begin at the end of this month. The “frictionless” system will allow fans to tap their payment card to enter one of 50 markets, then automatically charge them for the food and beverages they take with them when they leave. About 3,500 cameras will make the system run.
Titans staff will begin moving into their new offices in January, and the first publicly announced event is expected in mid to late April.

HEADLINES
- 🚗 Tennessee loses the Audi plant to Georgia
At a Republican rally in Georgia on Saturday, President Trump announced that Audi will build its $4.2 billion plant just south of Macon. The decision ended Chattanooga’s long-held hopes of landing it next to the existing Volkswagen plant. Audi CEO Gernot Döllner said the company studied building at the Chattanooga plant but wanted its own standalone site, like BMW’s in South Carolina and Mercedes’ in Alabama. (TNJ) - 🎸 Bluebird Cafe sues neighbor over 2025 flood
The Bluebird Cafe is suing the Rosette apartment development next door and the engineering firm Kimley-Horn for at least $310,000 over damage from the April 2025 flash flood. The lawsuit says the Rosette’s drainage grate was too small and got blocked, sending up to 8 feet of water into the venue’s lower level. It also claims the defendants had been warned in an earlier Metro review that the pipe could back up. The flood forced the cafe to cancel shows, and the suit alleges negligence, nuisance, and trespass. (WKRN) - 💰 New board deciding how to spend downtown tourism-tax surplus
The new nine-member Joint Capital Tourism Board, created by state lawmakers this spring, is deciding how to spend a surplus that could reach tens of millions of dollars. The money comes from hotel and sales taxes in the downtown tourism zone that helps pay for the convention center. Mayor Freddie O’Connell wants it spent on public safety, possibly expanding the Central Precinct. Others want to refund Broadway businesses facing high tax bills, though board member Bill Haslam warned those payments could be distributed unevenly. A decision is expected by the end of 2026. (WPLN)
